The Xbox original had Crimson Skies. This alone allows it to beat the shit out of and rape the other consoles in a dark alleyway. It simply does not compare.
I know this game is your entire childhood but you have to let it go.

PLAYSTATION SHOWCASE
>Spiderman 3
I'll pass on this, still feel no reason to buy a PS5. The insomniac games are fun but they don't warrant an entire console. I'd rather wait for it to come to PC.
>Snake Eater Remake
Hopefully this is done well. It's a little gay that Kojima is no longer there to work on it but Konami should have the Fox engine still from MGS5, as that was why Kojima's studio had to work with Guerrilla studios to make a new engine.
>Marathon
Cool trailer with interesting art choices but I lost all interest when I found out it was an extraction game.
>Assassin's Creed Mirage
Looks alright, seems the leaks were all dead on. It's a shame we won't have the Unity parkour system but at least we're getting a dense city instead of an open world with crap to parkour with. Don't like that "combo chain kill" thing, hopefully it's not supernatural like the recent games have been because they said this was suppose to be more grounded like the old games. I heard something about Valhalla hitboxes but hopefully there's no health sponge enemies. The trailer did show black box assassinations so hopefully there's a lot of them, it was the best part about Syndicate. I'm interested but I'm waiting for more info. Likely won't get it at release but will wait for word of mouth.
>Dragon's Dogma 2
As long as they improve the Pawn system, it should be good. Definitely looking forward to it.

What is this weeb shit? It has no sense of American pride whatsoever. It radiates soy energy.

I don't know what nip main character stars in this game but he stands no chance against the chad sky pirate leader of the Fortune Hunters Nathan Zachary!

The only game that I am really interested is the Helldivers 2. I spent like few hundred hours for democracy.

Also, LOL at the Splatoon copy cat. Oh Square Enix, how the mighty had fallen in the latest game generation,

Edit: Also, everyone forgot a cult classic that is only released in OG Xbox Japan. Microsoft has some retarded opinion about FromSoftware. However, Sony also did that same shit as well, and gave the Demon Souls IP to the Bandai for oversea distribution, and missed a big opportunity

its good to know I'm among fellow artistic people that hyperfocus about topics so much we need wranglers :SelenHAHAhere:
My experience is different from almost everyone, my parents got me a PS2 without knowing it was a DVD player so they bought DVD players before and after and they kept failing so they bought more, I never had to share the Pee Es Double with the family :whatastory:
As for the Xbox I didn't even know it existed until I saw Xzibit put one inside a guy's car because it seens M$ only cared about the US market
Yeah, it was so useful at the time, my parents always asked me to bring my PS2 during travels.

Just checked out Helldivers, seems cool. Liking the Starship Troopers angle they're trying, I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.
>Foamstars
I never even played Splatoon and I can see how blatant it's copying it. Looks like a zoomer/egirl/troon take on Splatoon that is definitely going to be riddled with MTX.

i played a ton of Helldivers since it was free on Piss+, its pretty neat, its suprisingly deep for a cheapo twinstick shooter and has some nice enemy variety, it was borked by having stupid balance, but the gameplay was still fun until the higher difficulties that required you to have the same loadouts or else the hard core twats would get pissy

Re the Xbox DVD adapter, I had forgotten that had to be bought separately, so fair enough.

Foamstars looks so incredibly desperate but I guess the porn of the characters will be less alarming than it is for Spatoon.

I'll give the Foamstars trailer credit for confusing me for a bit what it was. I think the game could work (it's an obvious Splatoon knockoff), but it's got that K/DA style character designs. Which I don't think actually work for games (works in music videos). Then I remembered what the Internet has done with K/DA... and Splatoons. They're straight up going for the "3D Porn Marketing" approach, aren't they?

After some thought and the way too many executives pay for consulting firms that track engagement, they've either implicitly or accidently went full 3D MV Coomer marketing. It's some combination of brilliant, hilarious or deeply disturbing.

Demon's Souls was actually published in NA by Atlas, so even worse.

Apparently Bungie is slapping the Marathon name on whatever this is. I'm seeing red. If they called this Marathon: Versus or even Marathon 4 or something, it'd be somewhat more tolerable, but this, which is apparently going to be some multiplayer-only BR thing with (I'm sure) lots of live services nonsense, is apparently going to get the full rebadging, and people searching the name is going to see this instead of the classic innovative game series of the '90s.

I know companies often lose a lot of their original soul after being bought and sold. Well, Bungie has been sold twice, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Well.

This person probably wasn't even born yet when the last of the original trilogy came out.

I guess Bungie is going for the "well, we own this IP" approach. That said, like Apex Legends, I actually think the Marathon world would lend itself to a Tarkov-type game. Though my understanding of the game comes from MandaloreGaming. It's one of those games I've heard about a lot, but never got around to playing. Also, Halo references it a lot.

Huh, I had missed that Bungie was actually acquired by Sony. Guess Marty O`Donnell finally gets paid for that equity stake, haha. Though both Halo and Destiny got off the rails when they ran Marty out. If you've never seen any of his behind the scenes content, it's normally the only real "adult" in far too many rooms.

Actually, Marty getting shoved out of Bungie goes well with the pictures you posted. A huge problem in AAA development is the fact that Artists outnumber basically everyone else in these companies. Which means they drag the culture into their sphere. A company that wants to make money in gaming is going to eventually completely outsource the entire Art Department minus the Art Director. Then make sure their Producer knows how to produce. That's actually a huge problem in gaming. In Movies, a Producer can have 10+ credits before they get a 100 million dollar film. In gaming, maybe 2, if you're lucky. The time frame to pick up the experience needed just doesn't work. It's part of the really hit & miss nature of far too many studios.

So much talk about Xbox games and no-one mentioned Escape from Butcher Bay? Fukken casuals.
Looking back on it, can 2004 be considered the greatest year for games, ever?
  • GTA San Andreas
  • Escape from Butcher Bay
  • Half Life 2
  • MGS 3
  • Spider-man 2
  • Halo 2
  • Kotor 2
  • PoP: Warrior Within
  • Far Cry
  • Fable
  • VTMB: Bloodlines
  • NFSU 2
  • Doom 3
  • Star Wars Battlefront
  • Burnout 3
  • LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth
  • Sims 2
  • Killzone
I think I'm forgetting a bunch more, but goddamn that was a hell of a year.

am I missing something? That's Shattered Skies. I don't know what the hell Crimson Skies is and if it isn't Ace Combat related then it's as worthless as superduper's opinions.

Marathon sounded cool, but I'm not playing some Tarkov clone shit. If you're bringing a series back, just stick to what genre it originally was. No Marathon fan is happy from hearing about what it is now from what I've seen.
I'm not sure how I feel about Cayde being back in The Final Shape. Suppose it's to make up for Vuvuzela being gone now.
Funny, as I type this a Snake Eater cover is playing. Only played 4,2, and 5 in that order, may give Delta a shot if I hear good things about it.
Everything else means nothing to me. Never played them, and I need some convincing to give them any of them a look.

There will never be a Bloodborne Remaster or sequel for another five years at least. Accept it bloodfags.

I was memeing on him for liking Crimson Skies by calling the spoiler "kino skies" but it was Shattered Skies, the superior game.

I have to disagree. Marathon is tight hallways on dimly-lit spaceships and occasional dark humor. It's atmospheric action being broken up by reading the diatribes of insane AIs on computer monitors. They're plot-heavy games, though that plot is quite confusing at times. That kind of stuff doesn't translate to multiplayer very well. The original games had multiplayer, but as with Doom and other games of the era it was a bonus alongside the campaign, not the main star - and certainly not a replacement for it entirely. Marathon is not wide open and brightly-lit like in that trailer. And that one enemy they showed with the robe and glowing orb is similar to an enemy from the original games, but who knows what role they'll play in a PvP game.

As for the MGS3 remake, no Kojima, no sale. There's a chance the team they have on it will have some true love of the game and not butcher it too much but I don't trust Konami in this regard.

Even from the cinematic, you can feel the difference when it is still being helmed by Kojima or not.

Hopefully they are going to use Fox Engine. It would be laughable if they use Unreal.

Oh my fucking God. Bungie is going to cash in on the "Destiny is set in the Marathon universe" lore rrat that they've been gently feeding in the background since Destiny 1, and it's gonna be for a cynical fucking marketing boost for their Tarkov clone.

Given the quality of their top level staff these days, sadly, that's probably correct. It's the "Great Collapse", right? The first time the Witness showed up? That's going to be after Marathon games, lol.
